Antilles pinktoe tarantula for sale (Caribena versicolor)

The Antilles Pinktoe Tarantulafor sale (Caribena versicolor) is one of the most colorful and visually rewarding species available in the hobby. Known for its dramatic color transformation as it grows, this species starts off as a vivid metallic blue spiderling and gradually develops into a stunning mix of green, purple, and pink tones as an adult. That natural color change alone makes it a favorite among collectors who want something that evolves over time rather than staying the same.

Native to the Caribbean, particularly Martinique, this is a fully arboreal species that spends its life off the ground. It builds silk retreats in elevated areas such as branches or cork bark and prefers height over floor space. Unlike many terrestrial tarantulas, it tends to stay visible within its webbing, making it a strong display species when housed correctly. Its web structures are often neat and tube-like, giving the enclosure a more natural, layered look.

Adult Antilles Pinktoe Tarantula for sale typically reach around four to five inches in leg span. They grow at a moderate rate, with their coloration changing noticeably at each stage. Females can live for well over a decade with proper care, while males mature faster and have shorter lifespans. The transition from bright blue juveniles to multi-colored adults is one of the main reasons this species remains in high demand.

In terms of temperament, this species is generally considered calm but quick. It is not known for being aggressive, but it can move suddenly and may jump if startled, which is something keepers need to be aware of. Like other New World arboreal tarantulas, it relies more on speed and retreat than defense, though it can flick urticating hairs if necessary. Handling is not recommended, but routine care is manageable with basic caution.

Antilles pinktoe tarantula for sale – Housing And Feeding

Proper housing is especially important for the Antilles Pinktoe Tarantula for sale. It requirees a tall enclosure with excellent ventilation, as stagnant air and excessive humidity can lead to health issues. Cross ventilation is key. The enclosure should include vertical structures such as cork bark or branches to support webbing. While some humidity is beneficial, the setup should never be damp or poorly ventilated. A lightly moist substrate with good airflow creates a stable environment. Temperatures in the mid to high 70s Fahrenheit generally work well.

Feeding is simple and consistent. The Antilles Pinktoe Tarantula for sale has a steady feeding response and will accept a variety of prey such as crickets and small roaches. Juveniles should be fed more frequently to support growth, while adults typically do well on a weekly schedule. As with all tarantulas, uneaten prey should be removed to avoid stress or disturbance.
